Shadows

Updated: Jun 5, 2021

The body that lingers,

Matching us step by step.

It’s the remnant of used-to-be’s,

The part that lost its pep.

It’s creates a harmony,

Between all our past mistakes and life’s unique comedy.

Constantly got our back to remind us of the pain,

Cuz it’s a fight to go insane while struggling to stay sane.

It’s black hue is a reminder on display,

That the night is gone, giving way to a brand new day.

It’s a symbol that our past will always be black,

Because the gift of today it will lack.

It makes circles around us,

Realising the passing of time.

At every angle it shows us an alternate version like a different hue or another height,

But at 90 degrees it seems just right.

What makes it so special is that it’s an extension of us,

Ironically, the side that hides in the day.

It grows more prominently as the light shines brighter,

Because success puts the spotlight on that long lost fighter.

The triumph of a new you will echo,

as you win over your own shadow.
