Smiles

You may not always be happy but I'll always be there,

It's a mask you wear everyday.

You will play along with others because you care,

No matter what they do or say.

It means something different to everyone but it's not always happy,

It's easier to fill your empty void of happiness with them,

but you still end up feeling crappy.

When you finally try to portray your feelings out loud,

They'll ask what's wrong, just to please the crowd.

"They're free so give them away",

Is what they all say.

They talk about all their problems and how they were cured,

Emphasising about how they've matured.

True maturity is when you know,

That the other person doesn't really care about you, but you let it go.

You may cry yourself to sleep but never show,

The next day, like always, you put the mask on and they would never know.

Your world is collapsing but you'll still save theirs,

True loyalty is rare, but they don't care.

Tears may not be heavy but they carry emotional weight,

You wonder if they'll ever come back or will it be too late.

You put it on but your mind constantly rattles,

It's like you're always in a war field, fighting your endless battles.

They stretch from cheeck-to-cheek, even though you may not have the cutest eyes or the nicest face,

Atleast you have a loyal heart, which is rare nowadays.

You hide a thousand feelings behind it,

But the real happiness could never fit.

Rock bottoms will teach you what mountain tops never will,

Sometimes you just have to either jump off a mountain or roll down a hill.

Hats off to you for running the extra mile,

You got everyone fooled with just a smile.
