Across borders

I woke up to a familiar but unappreciated place,

Impatient to re-explore the common yet understated marvels.

I found an idyllic long lost friend in this space,

Ending all my mind-twisting battles.

My first destination was unavoidable,

The only remain of a daily routine that was left.

I felt lighter and fresher,

Of a burden I was bereft.

I travelled past walls to reach a place that was magic itself,

Where I found my secret helper, a giving elf.

I was bestowed with souvenirs to remember him by,

A warm parting gift as fulfilling as pie.

I walked till my feet barely dragged along,

It felt like I came all the way from Hong Kong.

I opened my eyes to see a labyrinth like no other,

The ultimate prize was the key to my sole controller.

As I sat there capturing the views,

It felt like I belonged on this enchanting cruise.

Sitting there peering ahead,

It reminded me of the comfort of my bed.

I flew away past animals and ventured sceneries,

To a destination that never seemed so bright.

It consumed me like a disease becoming my whole world,

Robbing me of the chance to explore another mesmerising sight.

The mood swings of the sunlight and the intoxicating air made it feel alive like it was in bloom,

When all I did was take a round trip around my world and came back to my room.

This was the vacation I took for granted not expecting to be this vacant in June.

Where I instantly went to bereft my burdens was actually the bathroom,

And the magical place where the elf was the magician,

Was my delicious souvenir shop; the kitchen.

My feet were dragged along to a labyrinth of sofas against whom,

I shed blood sweat and tears to find the remote to my controller, the TV in the living room.

As I experienced the enchanting cruise opposite the TV, I was reminded of my bed,

I flew across borders to my room,

be honest, were you misled?
